It was her first concert and one of many more I hope to see with her. We were lucky enough to see her up close and personal too. Our seats were in Section I and at one point Taylor comes through the crowd and hugs people on the end. Julianna was a bit bummed that she didn’t get a hug, but I tried to remind her that she was one of very few people who got to be close to her. She even sang 2 songs right in front of our section. I tried to bump up her spirits by telling her that Taylor looked right at her. It seemed to work.

I had a great time too. I think she did a wonderful job of getting the crowd involved and she has a fantastic stage presence.

Julianna wore her Taylor Swift t-shirt to school today. Poor thing is sitting in class right now probably wishing she were back in bed. We didn’t get home until 11:30!!

I try my best to get images that are perfect straight out of the camera but sometimes I need a little help from Photoshop. I like pictures that are on the bright side so I usually have to bump up the curves and then I sharpen the eyes. That’s about it but it makes a big difference, don’t you think?

Lots of snow. I love the way everything looks when it first comes down. So sparkly and beautiful. Yesterday we stayed inside, but early this morning the girls were begging me to go out and build a snowman.

It took about 10 minutes to get everyone all bundled up and then we headed outside. I grabbed my camera, of course! I am so glad we did because I was able to capture this hilarious moment.

I asked the girls to get together so that I could take a picture. Julianna was holding a snowball and then Jaime knocked it down. Well, guess what happened next?

fight I absolutely love this series of pictures. Julianna’s face is priceless and look at Jaime. She is so happy with herself and that just made Julianna even more angry. There is one more picture before I had to put the camera down.

I take so many of other people’s children and sometimes my own family gets neglected. So, on ordinary days when Jaime dresses up like Snow White or Julianna has a school function, I have started to pull out my camera. Normally, I’d feel overwhelmed at the idea of having dozens more pictures to edit, but I am trying to get more comfortable with the idea that not all of my pictures have to be great. I may miss a shot, I may get some blur, I may even have to use my flash, but it doesn’t really matter. What matters is capturing the memories. Ones like these.

Even when it’s our entire group, which is well over 30 people, everybody gets a turn.

This Thanksgiving was a quiet one. My dad just returned home from the hospital after suffering a minor heart attack. My aunt is recovering from intense radiation so we decided not to do a big get-together. Instead we kind of all went our separate ways.  My brothers and sister thought we were in the clear but my mom was adamant about still going around the table to say what we’re thankful for.

This year I’m especially thankful for family. It’s the most important thing in my life. I’m thankful for my children and my husband. I’m thankful for my sister, her husband, and their growing family. I’m thankful for my brother and sister-in-law and their beautiful son (my nephew). I’m thankful for my youngest brother and his new wife.

I’m so thankful that my parents are here and present in my life. I’m thankful that I can call my mom everyday and she puts a smile on my face. I’m thankful for the relationship that she has with my children. I’m thankful for my father’s health and I’m so proud that he’s stopped smoking. I’m thankful that we can joke with each other. I’m thankful that, although we don’t see each other often enough, when we are together it’s always comfortable and easy. He’s the strongest man I know and he’s got the biggest heart. I hope he continues to take care of it.  :)

I’m also thankful for pictures. I’m thankful that I can see the pure joy and happiness in my niece’s eyes.

I’m thankful that we’re all there for each no matter what. I’m thankful and grateful for this family that I have. I would not be who I am or be able to do what I love without them. I love you all!
