Usually I’m the one saying “just one more” to clients but this family came ready to shoot. They had a blast coming up with different poses and ideas. I loved it. Mom is due with baby number 3 in November. And it’s a girl. She’ll be a scorpio just like me.

Smooshy is how I would describe Megan’s smile. She scrunches up her nose and squints her eyes. It’s so adorable!

She’s got a lot to be happy about. Next week she turns 1. And she’s got a big brother and sister to help her celebrate. Lucky duck.

I love one year-olds. They are so much fun ~ newly walking, exploring the world. Leo turned one a couple weeks ago and his mama is so proud. I would be too. Look at that face.

So good to see you again today V! Leo is gorgeous, just like his mama.

Feeling Lucky [East Hanover NJ Newborn Photographer]

I’ve been very fortunate lately. The past few newborn sessions have been so lovely and today was no different. I met Jennifer at her parents house. She actually got a gift certificate for this session at her baby shower, which I think it the PERFECT gift for moms-to-be.

When I arrived, Miss Lilly was wide awake, which can sometimes spell trouble. Not today. We took a couple shots outside first and can you believe that I was actually worried it was too COLD for her. In August?? Don’t get me wrong, this weather is absolutely gorgeous, but newborns like it warm. Still, it all worked out because I swaddled her. Purple is a great color on her, don’t you think?

When we got inside, I wasn’t sure whether Miss Lilly would sleep so mom fed her a little and it worked like a charm. Babies love sleeping like this on their tummies. I know doctors say you shouldn’t but I always let my girls nap like this during the day.

She stayed this way for the rest of the shoot, except when it was mom’s turn to be involved. We were setting up for our last shot and Miss Lilly took a bathroom break (all over mom!). Well at least she waited a few minutes for me to get this shot.

Keeping it Personal [Maplewood NJ Newborn Photographer]

I loved this session today for some many reasons. Little Miss Arden was sooo good. She lives in a beautiful old home with a fantastic front porch. And she is surrounded by so much love. The reason I know this is because of all the things I got to see during our session. Her nursery is decorated with dozens of pictures of friends and family when they were little kids. What a wonderful thing for her to see everyday.

She also has 3 very special blankets made especially for her. The one pictured here was made from mom’s old t-shirts.

And to top things off, Arden already has a big brother to watch over her.

3 Weeks [Lake Hopatcong NJ Newborn Photographer]

Such a great day! Super easy going baby. Adorable big brother. Beautiful parents. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Ryan was born just 3 weeks ago. He was so good during our time together. I wish all newborns were as good. Check out mom and dad’s backyard. They have a little pond with a waterfall!

Mom and dad probably though I was a little strange when I asked if I could bring their dining room chair outside, but it was totally worth it.

Ryan’s big brother (if you could even call him that ~ he’s only 16 months) wasn’t too sure about me when I first walked in. He was playing shy, turning his head every time I talked to him. I had him laughing in no time though!

Then we headed inside and Drew wanted to be a part of the action even more. He was hamming it up.

Then it was Ryan’s turn again. I really love how this next shot came out. He was facing the window in his bedroom and the light coming in was just so perfect.

S family, thanks for one of the best sessions I’ve had in a while!

Beautiful Family

They could not have been any nicer. Even the dog was nice. And I fell even more in love when I found out one of their daughters was a Juliana. The whole family is gorgeous. Miss Hailey wants to be a teacher when she grows up (even though I think she has the makings of a fabulous photographer) and Miss Juliana wants to be a diva. Yes, that’s what she told me. She’s got the walk down pat. So cute!

About 2 weeks ago their was an addition to this family of four. Baby Michael came as a little surprise but is loved nonetheless. The girls are so helpful with him, getting diapers and blankets. They were so excited to see what I was doing with their baby brother but they hung in the kitchen until I was done. Such good listeners.

I wasn’t sure this hat would look good since it’s a little big but I am so glad we tried it anyway. I love this!

Pretty as a Flower

If you’re are a mom to a little girl you know how much fun it can be to dress them up. My girls love wearing pretty things but they never really like anything in their hair. The only thing they’ll tolerate is headbands. So when Danielle contacted me about her new business I knew it was something I would love. It’s called Little Miss Bowtique. How fabulous is that name? Both Danielle and her partner Robin create these adorable headbands and clips for a very reasonable price.

They come in a variety of colors and styles. And the best part about them is the band because it’ll stretch to fit on infants, toddlers, and older girls. My daughter is 7 and is fit her perfect. My 3 year-old tried one on and it fit just as good. Too bad she wouldn’t model for me though!

Man Down! [Jersey Shore Family Photographer]

Yesterday was not my finest. I met up with the D family at the Jersey Shore for a family session. I know both mom and dad from high school and was excited to meet their two gorgeous little boys. Things were going swimmingly … until we took a walk over to some rock that went out into the ocean. Here’s what it looked like from my viewfinder.

So adorable, right? Well, as they turned around and walked towards me, I started to back up and tripped over a rock. I went right in the water … and so did my camera! I’ve always been so nervous about shooting at the beach because of the sand and water. Yesterday I had way too much of both. The camera seems to be working fine though ~ thank goodness!

And thank goodness T and B were so good about my little accident. I was so embarrassed. Little B even asked if I was alright. He is the cutest thing. We were having so much fun. And he told me all about his favorite thing in the whole wide world ~ dinosaurs!

And this is Little B squared (yes I invented that nickname). He was asleep when the family arrived but as soon as he woke up he was all smiles. I love little boys in hoodies. So delicious!

D family it was so great to see you yesterday. Thanks so much for making me feel like less of an idiot for falling in the ocean! Your boys are gorgeous!

2 Weeks [Roselle Park NJ Newborn Photographer]

Just a quick note to all my clients. I will be away on vacation from Saturday, August 14 until Friday August 20. I will be checking email but will have limited access to a computer. I will respond to all calls/emails when I return.

I was so happy to be able to photograph Lucas. He was born almost 2 weeks ago and I know mom and dad couldn’t wait to meet him. He was so good. He let me move him all around and didn’t seem to mind. At one point, I turned him from his belly to his back and noticed his umbilical cord fell off! Thanks for a great session Lucas!!
